The Pry House Field Hospital Museum at Antietam National Battlefield opens its 2011 season as one of the stops on the Washington County, MD Historic Sites Ramble. The PHFHM consists of an exhibit on the development of the Union Army's field hospital system, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Letterman, just before the Battle of Antietam. 11am-5pm

Interactive family activities recall the burning of the Courthouse on May 8, 1861. See the "Old Lady" hand pumper that helped to extinguish the fire, meet a 19th century Independent Hose man, and at 3pm join the bucket brigade in a recreation of the extinguishing of the courthouse blaze. The MVHS owns and operates an historic stone house, summer kitchen, and carriage house/barn on a large plot of land in the historic town of Middletown, Maryland. The Society also operates a small museum on site, including a collection of artifacts, documents, photos, etc. related to the Town's history. The Museum in the Stone House is open the First Sunday of every month from May - September from 1-5pm.
