The Historical Society of Frederick County and the Catoctin Center for Regional Studies present the Fifth Annual History Symposium, Pursuing a Change of Place: American Tourists of the 19th Century. The symposium features several speakers who will present programs of various aspects of American tourism in and out of the United States in the 19th century. Topics include: photography and the tourist experience, Barbara Fritchie as a tourist icon, African American tourist destinations and the Grand Tour. Pre-registration is required and a light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
